In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, do you want to make your horse better? Try these dishes.
When you play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Malayna is the Horse God who is always hungry. When you offer Malayna an Endura Carrot at his spring in North Akkala for the first time, he will talk about eating Link. However, Malayna says there are other things he likes better, and if you give them to him, he will raise your horse’s stats. If you give him a Roasted Endura Carrot, he can also bring a horse back to life.
For each stat and star level, a horse needs a different kind of food to improve its Strength, Speed, Stamina, and Pull. Malayna can boost all of your stats up to five stars, except for the horses Great White Stallion and Ganondorf’s Horse, which are too big to receive any buffs. These meals, listed from most difficult to least difficult, are must-haves for giving your horses extra power.
Herb Sauté
To make this recipe, put any herb, flower, or veggie and Goron Spice in a cooking pot. Hyrule Herbs are some of the easiest wild greens to grow in Hyrule’s grass, but they don’t change your state like Armoranth and Spicy Peppers do. You can get the second ingredient from the general shop in Goron City, which sells Goron Spice.
The number of speed boosts your horse gets goes up when you feed them herb sauté. At the bottom of the screen, these boosts are shown in yellow.
Veggie Rice Balls
Hylian Rice and any kind of veggie, herb, or flower can be used to make Veggie Rice Balls. Steambulb, Hylian Tomato, and Spicy Pepper are all common vegetables that are used in food. Cutting the grass with a blade weapon in shallow ponds is how you can collect Hylian Rice. Still, it’s easier to buy Hylian Rice from shops and traveling traders, like the ones in Hateno Village and Zora’s Domain.
To make a horse stronger and better at pulling, you need to feed it veggie rice balls. When it comes to horses, the bigger they are, the more damage they can take.
Glazed Veggies
Giving Malayna Glazed Veggies to your horse can increase their default Speed. This means that when they’re not using one of the speed boosts at the bottom of the screen, the improved horse will run faster.
Your choice of veggie, herb, or flower is called for in the Glazed Veggies recipe. You have to take a beehive off of a tree to get Courser Bee Honey. Be careful, because bees will attack you if they get too close. However, if you hit them with a tool, they will run away.
Veggie Porridge
There are three different things that go into this dish: Hylian Rice, Fresh Milk, and any veggie, herb, or flower. In Hateno Village, there is a general shop that sells fresh milk. You can also get Fresh Milk from Dantz at Hateno Pasture. For three acorns, you can get one bottle of Fresh Milk from him.
Veggie Porridge can help you get stronger in both Stamina and Pull. With Ultrahand, you can link a tow harness and a cart to your horse. The Pull stat lets the horse pull heavier loads faster. Talking to Blyne at Highland Stable will let you play a minigame called “cart race.” To finish the course as quickly as possible, it helps to use a horse with good Stamina and Pull.
Copious Fried Wild Greens
Copious Fried Wild Greens is a mix of four different flowers, herbs, or veggies. There are many ways to make Copious Fried Wild Greens, but one way is to cook Swift Carrot, Hyrule Herb, Blue Nightshade, and Silent Princess. You can also get one with Mighty Thistle, Hearty Radish, Fortified Pumpkin, and Electric Saffina. You can find these things all over Hyrule or buy them from different sellers.
Malayna really enjoys his veggies. He asks for lots of fried wild greens to improve a horse’s Strength, Stamina, and Pull. This vegetable dish is one of the most useful ones.
Vegetable Risotto
You can make more stamina for your horse by cooking a dish with goat butter, Hylian rice, rock salt, and any pumpkin or carrot. You can buy rock salt in Happy Wheels or get it from ore sources in caves and near mines. On the other hand, you can only get goat butter from traveling salespeople and general shops in places like Hateno Village and Rito Village.
Using a Swift Carrot in a Hasty veggie Risotto gives it a Speed Up bonus, for example. Each veggie has its own effect on the dish. There are two kinds of vegetable risotto that Malayna is willing to accept: Tough and Hasty Vegetable Risottos.
Vegetable Curry
Any veggie, Hylian Rice, and Goron Spice can be used to make veggie Curry. Steambulbs, Swift Carrots, and Fortified Pumpkins are all vegetables that could be used. Malayna is okay with different kinds of Vegetable Risotto. He is also okay with different kinds of Tough Vegetable Curry.
To get the Horse God to eat more than one meal, he might ask for three curries and three plates of two other meals that make horses stronger, like Hot Buttered Apple and Carrot Cake. This would raise the horse’s Strength from four to five stars.
Cream Of Vegetable Soup
For a horse to have the highest Stamina and Pull numbers, it needs to eat a lot of cream of vegetable soup. Fresh Milk, Rock Salt, and any plant (except carrots and pumpkins) make this soup taste great. It’s okay to use Cool Saffina, Warm Saffina, Sundelion, Silent Princess, Blue Nightshade, Mighty Thistle, and Armoranth as materials.
You can make Veggie Cream Soup by cooking Fresh Milk and Rock Salt with a Swift Carrot, Endura Carrot, or Fortified Pumpkin instead of a wild plant. Malayana also asks you to do this to improve your horse’s Speed and Pull.
Carrot Cake
For a sweet ending, the Horse God asks for Carrot Cake to make a horse as strong as possible. If you improve a normal horse, it will get as much HP as the two Giant Horses. This means that the improved horse can take a lot of damage in battle.
Goat butter, cane sugar, Tabantha wheat, and any kind of carrot are what you need to make carrot cake. You can buy Cane Sugar in Rito Village and Goron City. To get Tabantha Wheat, you can either grow it in the Tabantha grasslands or buy it at the common store in Rito Village or Gerudo Town.
Apple Pie
Apple Pie can be made without an oven. Put any apple, goat butter, cane sugar, and tabantha wheat into a cooking pot that is already lit. In Hyrule, you can pick apples from trees in both towns and woods. You can use either a regular red apple or a rare golden apple. However, you might want to save the golden apples for meals that help you get better.
Malayna asks for multiple serves of this last dessert to make your horse faster. After giving Apple Pie, you and your horse can run across Hyrule Field as fast as you can. Yes, yes.
