Ajit Pawar Appeals to Baramati Voters Amid Fierce Political Battle
Making an impassioned appeal to the voters of Baramati, deputy chief minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar today termed the election the most challenging one so far for him. Speaking at the last campaign meeting, he appealed to the voters not to be misled by the false campaigns his rival was engineering; instead, pay heed to welfare and development.

Brushing aside allegations that he was BJP’s man in Pune, Ajit Pawar directly tackled the accusation that a vote for him would amount to voting for Bharatiya Janata Party or the BJP. “Some are campaigning that a vote for Ajit Pawar will be a vote for the BJP. It is not true. A vote for Ajit Pawar is a vote for the NCP candidate,” he clarified.
He recalled how the voters of strategic alliances in Maharashtra politics used to point out the hypocrisy of his critics. “The BJP is supporting us because we formed the Mahayuti. But those accusing us forget that they too joined hands with Shiv Sena (UBT) to form the MVA. If taking support is questionable, what about their alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT)? Where is the ideology in that?” he asked.
The Pawar Family Feud A strange case of a family feud over this election has sprouted as Sharad Pawar’s faction in the NCP set nephew against uncle. The battle between Ajit Pawar and Yugendra Pawar-a member of the Sharad Pawar clan-brings Baramati, one of Ajit Pawar’s stronghold, into the fray. Counting his electoral successes in the past, he attributed it to the people of Baramati for the fact that he is receiving consistent support from the people. “You elected me seven times in Assembly elections and once in Lok Sabha elections. This is the eighth time I am seeking your blessings”, he said in his long political journey.
A Family United for Support
Though Ajit Pawar didn’t really cash much on family unity earlier, this time, he ensured that his oneness came out at his own advantage. “Earlier, often I stood all alone during elections. But this time, my mother, sisters, sons Parth and Jay, and my wife have all campaigned for me. It feels great to see my family standing by me at this hour,” he added.

He also spoke about the political journeys of his wife, Sunetra. “The party has nominated her to the Rajya Sabha even though she lost in the Lok Sabha elections. This shows the amount of faith and respect we have in ourselves and within our party.”.
Eradicating the Sympathy Vote
Criticising the opposition for capitalising on personal incidents to garner sympathy votes, Ajit Pawar said, “The incident at the Textile Park in Baramati, where my aunt was reportedly made to wait, is being blown out of proportion. Rivals are misrepresenting it to play the sympathy card,” he alleged, dwelling on an incident a few days ago when wife of Sharad Pawar, Pratibha Pawar, was waiting at a public function.
Development at the Heart of the Campaign
Reiterating his promise of development for Baramati, Pawar in his speech listed the past successes and went on to announce audacious plans for the region. “I want to establish a cancer hospital in Baramati. Having seen my uncle, mother, and others suffer from this illness, I understand the pain it brings. Along with that, I will construct a logistics park, a horticulture processing plant, and world-class sports facilities here,” he said.
All my development initiatives are there on the table. They don’t need any exaggerated claims or publicity,” says Ajit Pawar, adding that his work is the greatest testimonial of all.
A Mother’s Plea for Support
An emotional touch to the rally came when the mother of Ajit Pawar, Asha Pawar, reached the meeting and relayed a nice message to the rally through a party leader. “As a mother, I have seen Ajit working relentlessly for solutions of people’s problems. He is straightforward and honest. Despite being wronged, he keeps working selflessly for the community, ” she said.
She appealed to the voters to stand by her son. “Ajit has always put the people of Baramati first. I urge every voter to re-elect him and give him the strength to continue his good work,” she added.
A Son’s Admiration Jay Pawar, the younger son of Ajit Pawar, also spoke on the occasion and called him a doyen in his development work at Baramati. “My father’s development work needs no publicity; it is etched in the hearts of the people. Our rivals make baseless claims about their service, but my father’s actions speak for themselves,” he said.
A Critical Election
It is indeed a high-profile battle unfolding at the centre of politics in Maharashtra as the curtains fall on the Baramati Assembly seat campaign. Both the members of the Pawar family and their political opponents turn the attack on each other, yet there seems to be consistency in the message that Ajit Pawar sends out: Trust his record; reject misinformation; choose progress for Baramati.
Hopping to victory once again with his family standing solidly by his side and a legacy of development at his name, Ajit Pawar now stands ready once again to win and further entrench his hold in Baramati as well as prove his unstinted commitment to the people who stood by him through thick and thin.
